My expenses
For Ohio State University, fixed expenses are $11,666 for tuition, room and board. In university, I will live with friends on campus for the first two years then off campus for the balance of my tenure at university. I will have to get student loans to assist in paying for my university tuition. I will need a car while at university that I will have to purchase on my own. In reviewing all types of cars and those I can afford, my favorite car is the Ford Mustang. I will pay $23,800 for a Ford Mustang V6 Fastback. To afford it, I will finance the car at an interest rate of 5%. It will be the first time in my life I will become a debtor because I am borrowing money using an unsecured loan. To afford my insurance and other costs of living, I will work 2 jobs part time. I will referee local basketball games and teach kids basketball. It will allow me to contribute to the game I love and assist young players with the dream of playing basketball at a high level or even those who want to improve their skills to play competitively. As a basketball referee, I will get paid 15 dollars per game and as a basketball trainer, I will charge 50 dollars an hour. I will referee 4 games a week and train basketball for 10 hours. I will also consider providing the program to other college students to train kids and collect a royalty. Therefore, my weekly income will be $560. The cost of living is high in Columbus, Ohio and my weekly income will not cover all expenses. Hence, the need to live with other kids going to university to split food, gas, and other expenses. Further, it will allow me to repay my car loan to the credit bureau without having the car repossessed.
Back up plan.
If I do not have success at university, my back up will be to start a business. The business will be basketball training for kids. I plan on working through high school in order to pay for items I need but also to save for university. The money I save for University can be used to bridge the gap from the time I leave university to the time my job starts paying a good income for me to live.
